Archana holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology (Antibiotic Resistance and Phage Therapy), earned from the School of Bioscience and Technology at Vellore Institute of Technology, India in 2023. Her doctoral research focused on investigating phage biology targeting Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Throughout her Ph.D., she delved into the realms of phage resistance, evolutionary biology, and phage-antibiotic combination therapy. Notably, she conducted pre-animal model studies using nematodes such as Galleria mellonella and Caenorhabditis elegans.
Currently, Archana serves as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Phage Group at Balgrist, where she is actively expanding her expertise in phage therapy from bench to bedside. Her work involves large-scale phage production and preparation for patient treatment at Balgrist University Hospital. Her ongoing research initiatives include exploring phage-antibiotic combinations and refining the clinical selection of phages for patient treatment. She is committed to advancing phage therapy and contributing to its practical applications in clinical settings.
