Iara De Schoenmacker finished her Master’s degree in Health Science and Technology with a major in Neuroscience at the ETH Zurich in 2019. She did her Master’s Thesis in Vancouver in the lab of Prof. Dr. Kramer. Her research topic was the comparison of two thermal heat pain stimulators and the measured evoked potentials (laser and contact heat evoked potentials).

Iara joined the sensory group of Dr. Michèle Hubli in May 2019 as a PhD student at the Spinal Cord Injury Center Balgrist. Her topic will be to improve pain phenotyping across a variety of chronic pain conditions (i.e. neuropathic pain after spinal cord injury, complex regional pain syndrome and lower back pain). The goal is to get better insights into underlying pain mechanisms using quantitative pain measurements.
