Florin Allmendinger studied Biology at the University of Zurich and graduated in 2021 with a Master in Systematics and Evolution. He did his Master's Thesis in the Department of Evolutionary Biology and Environmental Studies. His Thesis was a meta-analysis about condition-dependent female choice in experimental studies.
After finishing his Master, he joined the Lüpold Group, where he also conducted his Master's Thesis, as a laboratory trainee, where he assisted in several different research projects.
Florin joined the sensory group of PD Dr. Michèle Hubli in the Spinal Cord Injury Centre Balgrist as a PhD student in February 2022. During his PhD he will monitor changes in the pain phenotype in patients with degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM) with the primary aim to reveal a surrogate marker for neuropathic pain, its prediction, progression and pathophysiology. The second aim of his studies will be to deconstruct the temporal pain phenotype in complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).
